Sorry for the brief intermission. This blog was for a class project, and the project ended, and a new one started, so I've been a bit busy with that. Things can get a bit more relaxed now.
Unfortunately, it's almost over, but you guys should check out Mike Jasorka's Rollerdame Art Tour. Or hell, just buy some. He's got some sweet stuff.
But, back to work. I'll work on this blog again next week, there's no time!

C-86? Not anymore, twee boy.
Alright, let's get some linkin' some Lincoln, and some discussin. This is an article (the linkin button) by Krister Bladh involving the C86 era, which was, as we know, the first mixtape put out of more indie, more twee, more DIYish bands. I'll be discussing pages 20-22, The Anorak Legacy.
It's pretty simple; a few of the bands fit in, but C86 was not twee; it was the precursor to twee. Indiepop was also born in zines and bred to be underground, but the difference is in the music. Bladh argues that the major differences come between the sounds of C86 and the sounds of Sarah Records. Sarah Records was more refined; a gentler music, cuter, sweeter, easier on the ears, I love how Bladh puts it as "gossamer." Some bands became twee, or always were twee; but C86 was mainly about starting indie music. It's the birth of the mixtape. C-86 opened the door, and out stepped twee pop, riot grrrl, and various other movements in music.
Well, that's pretty much what I wanted to say about that. I may have, inprevious discussions, mislead or not described rightly to some of you the whole C-86 issue. But there. So poo.

A Twee Little Entry
So this one will be short and to the point, as the source is. This one is from Economy-point.org, just a lil' article on Twee pop and the music industry.
The article basically has these few points:
1. Twee is simple, pretty, cute indie rock
2. Twee pretty much started in 1986 with a compilation named C86
3. The beginners and big hitters were Sarah Records in England, and K Records in America
4. There's also cuddlecore, which is a little more punk, but still adorable
So what's the deal Joseph? Why are you presenting me with this rather meager article on twee? It won't teach me anything I didn't know. Sure, I appreciate compact info, but help me out here.

Right. The article ends with a list of prominent twee pop bands, including some that have earned commercial success. The best way to know twee is to listen to twee; it will all fall into place. This fairly androgynous (ha!) website doesn't do much; but, that lil' list compiled is just a great taste of twee. Most sites give you hundreds of band names. This site does the basics. Not a bad page.

Twee(d) Fashion
So this was kind of a fun blog I found while researching all things twee, it's Twee Fashion!
I didn't know what to make of this site, until I got sucked in. It's just kind of cute, and is a fellow writer on blogger, so hey, it's all good. The blog is simple; look at a picture, and declare what's twee about the outfit. Lots of pictures, lots of little twee snippets.
Do not neglect, however, the tweebility of the blogger. Look at the language. It's so simple, it's so cute, it's very nice indeed. Everything is cute, everything could essentially be written by a young child; but that adds an amount of innocence to the entire project. The blog, which looks defunct now, ran about a hundred posts, all chock full of pretty people looking nice, and defining what twee fashion is. You know, scarves, mittens, cute tshirts, hats, thick rimmed glasses, sweaters, cords, all that stuff.
Dressing twee is cute. So do it.

An Entwee on Zines
If you put in zine on google images, this totally sweet and professionally looking zine comes up:
Zines zines, everyone loves zines. Don't be too harsh on that i, pronounce it zeeeeeen. So what is a zine. I'll use The Book of Zines for my point of reference.
Radical site.
So zines are like tiny magazines, homemade, usually using two or three pieces of paper, heavily xeroxed, cut pasted stapled colored in and handed out, mailed to friends, or something silly like just handed out. They're totally, totally awesome.
Zines popped up as part of the DIY sentiment, usually dealing in music or politics. Got something to say? Take a day, pop out twenty or thirty zines, put them together and get them out on the streets.
This site is great too. It has a directory with tons of zines, some mailing lists and the like, a bunch of how to's and FAQ's (which we all love). Distribution, legal mumbo jumbo, articles, everything you'll ever need for a zine and then so much more you may get physically ill reading about zines and actually never get one or make one becausethethoughtofzinesJUSTMAKESYOUWANTTODIE augh!
Today, I am giving Octopus Project a go. They're wild.

Wikitweedia
Alright, so what does Wikipedia have to offer. The holy ground for information. Many will say their information is flawed; some believe it to be absolute. I, however, as usual, am mildly nonchalant about the wikipedia entry. They say some good things, mention some basics, but I mean, its so mild compared to the Twee as Fuck article I discussed in my second and third posts.
Wikipedia is, in my opinion, good for four things:
1. Random articles. That button is divine. Never would I realize that a bog person is just a person who died and was buried in a bog, thus oddly preserving their body.
2. Quick reference. Talking to someone online and they ask you if you remember the general plot to the Jurassic Park movies (Like you could ever forget; Laura Dern is a babe)? Of course you do! It only takes ten seconds to get the gist of things on Wikipedia.
3. Reasons to celebrate. Nothing says party like the fact that December 5th is Frankie Muniz' birthday. In fact, on this very day of October 20th, I hope someone shares in my pint to celebrate Trafalgar Day!
4. The links. At the bottom of every page, and this is a big one, they have greeeeat outside links. So you just go. To. Town. Link the shit out of whatever Wikipedia article you're reading.
5. That game where you see how many steps it takes from a random article to get to the article about America. I don't know why you'd want to look at America's article for so long, but hey, the game is fun.
All in all, Wikipedia did very little for me in an exploration on twee. However, just like Google did, they attempted to switch me to Indipop, pop music from India. Apparently Indie music and the Indian culture go hand in hand.

A Tweeny Tiny Net for Catching Little Fishies
Do you feel lost in an endless twee? Need direction? Something to just get you started, like maybe some sort of search website, something comprehensive, something that will help you find other things to put you on your twee way. Ah!Of course! TweeNet!
This site will send you on your way. Need twee bands? This is (I'd say) the largest and easiest directory of twee bands and their websites. Looking for a record label to digest your tape? They have that here too! This site is the culmination of twee culture (well, in conjunction with IndiePages). Mailing lists, record labels, FAQ's out the wazoo, this will get you comfortable with your Tweebility. The site has a simple guide bar, with a section for bands, labels, then a mailing list, a forum directory, and some miscellaneous help information and...well, anything else you'll need. The page is simple, but nice, and just has a crapload of things any twee buff needs in life. I highly recommend you check it out, and take in everything it has to give you. Hooray!
